Forget Me Not: Community of Practice

The Forget Me Not Community of Practice operates in the field of non-pharmaceutical interventions in support of dementia care, namely the use of reminiscence as a soothing approach for people with dementia, as well as their formal and informal carers. It addresses the need for exchange of good practice, mutual support and further professional development of those providing care for people with dementia and ultimately the improvement of sufferers’ well-being. FMNCoP focuses on the use of reminiscence (not solely) through the use of a digital memory box (www.forgetmenotdigital.com) and the coordination of learning and innovation around it.

The FMN Suitability Tool goes hand in hand with the FMN Activity Plans.

While the Suitability Tool allows the carers and family members to assess the communication skills of the person receiving care, the Activity Plans provide guidance and examples of how to conduct a reminiscence session adapted to the situation and needs of the participant(s) in the activity in order to avoid potential failure or frustration.
